On Wednesday March 3rd representative Josh Pierce from the University of Nebraska at Kearney will be here at 10:00 A.M. On Wednesday March 10th representative Lori Bahlke from Southeast Community College will be here at 10:00 A.M. Juniors and Seniors are welcome to attend.  Those interested students are encouraged to make arrangements with your teacher prior to seeing these representatives. 

David Marsh, a Southwest High School graduate from the class of 2005, will be here to visit with any interested SENIOR about the United States Army.  He will be available on Thursday February 11th from 2:30 to 2:45.

Northwest Kansas Technical College will be here on Tuesday February 9th at 10:30 to visit with any interested Juniors or Seniors.  Please sign up with Mr. Watt prior to that day. 

BW TELCOM Community Partners Scholarships are now available.  Applications are available with Mr. Watt and are to be returned to Mr. Watt by April 30th. 

The Foundation of the Better Business Bureau (BBB) has established the Scott Mecham Student of Integrity Awards.  Three $2000 scholarships are presented annually to high school JUNIORS OR SENIORS who reside in Nebraska, South Dakota and southwest Iowa.  Visit http://nebraska.bbb.org/studentaward/ for information and applications.  Deadline is March 5th, 2010. 

The Southwest Nebraska Community Theater Association is awarding one $200 scholarship to any student wishing to study theater and to participate in McCook Community College productions.  Applications are available with Mr. Watt and the deadline is April 30th. 

Representative Brady Willhite from Wayne State College will be here on Monday February 1st at 1:35 P.M. to visit with any interested JUNIORS or SENIORS.  Sign up with Mr. Watt to see this representative. 

The Susan G. Komen for the Cure scholarships available.  To a apply applicants must have lost a parent to breast cancer.  Deadline is February 15th, 2010. 

The York Rite of Freemasonry, St. John Commandery No. 16, Knights of Templar, located in McCook, Nebraska is offering 5 $1000.00 scholarships to graduating seniors from area schools.  Applications are available with Mr. Watt and the deadline is April 1st, 2010.

SAMMY (Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year) 2010 scholarship program is now available.  Visit bodybymilk.com until March 5th, 2010 to apply.   

 

A representative from Central Community College will be here on Wednesday February 17th at 11:15 to visit with any interested juniors or seniors.  Joni from Central Community College will be here earlier on Wednesday February 17th…she will be here at 10:45 instead of 11:30.  Please note the change!

The Nebraska Department of Education is currently accepting applications for the Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship.  Please visit www.education.ne.gov/byrd. to download an application.  Applications must be submitted by March 15th, 2010. 

The Red Willow County Homemakers Organization will offer a $200.00 scholarship, to the son, daughter, or grandchild of a current member of the Red Willow County Homemakers Organization.  Applications are due by April 1st and are to be sent to: Gladys Calvin, 1010 West 3rd Street, McCook, NE 69001. 

The Old Settlers Committee Scholarship is now available. Applications are to be sent to Ann Teel, P.O. Box 5, Indianola, NE 69034.  Deadline is April 15th. 

The St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Indianola is offering an Altar Society Scholarship for graduating senior women members.  The scholarship is worth $250.00 and the deadline is April 15th.  Applications are available with Mr. Watt and completed applications and transcripts are to be returned to Kim McConville, 72906 RD 393, Indianola, NE 69034. 

The Monsanto 2010 Commitment to Agriculture Scholarships are now available.  Please visit www.monsanto.com or www.ffa.org or www.nafb.com.  On-line application submission deadline is February 15th, 2010.  Application signature page must be postmarked by February 22nd, 2010. 

Best Buy @15 Scholarships now available.  Visit www.bestbuy.com/scholarships to apply on-line.  Apply between December 28, 2009 and February 15, 2010. 1,000  scholarships of $1,000 will be awarded.

The Independent Insurance Agents of Nebraska Foundation has announced the availability of the Chet Linder Memorial Scholarships.  Applicants must plan on attending a NEBRASKA school and it is recommended that they pursue a major in BUSINESS or a business-related field.  Deadline is March 1st, 2010.  See Mr. Watt for an application.

There will be a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) Completion Day on March 1st, 2010 at McCook High School.  Please call EducationQuest at 800-666-3721 to setup an appointment.  Appointments are required to receive help that day.  See Mr. Watt for the required items needed at your appointment. 

The deadline for the February 6th, 2010 ACT test is January 5th, 2010.  Please visit www.actstudent.org for more information and to register.  ALL college bound juniors should consider taking two of the three available ACT tests this spring.  Here are the available testing dates and deadlines:

St. Catherine’s Knights of Columbus Scholarship Applications now available. Any senior boy who is a member of the St. Catherine’s Parish may apply.  Applications and recommendations need to be received by Grand Knight Rick Teel by April 15th, 2010. 

Haven and Virginia Smith Scholarships are now available.  Scholarships can only be used for schools in the STATE OF NEBRASKA.  To apply bring a senior picture to Mr. Watt by March 1st, 2010. 

The AXA Achievement Community Scholarships are now available.  Visit www.axa-achievement.com to view and print an application.  Deadline is February 15th, 2010.

The Nebraska Press Association Foundation Inc. has announced the availability of their scholarships to senior students who plan on attending a Nebraska school and major in PRINT JOURNALISM.  Deadline is March 1st, 2010.  Applications available with Mr. Watt. 

The Frontier County Farm Bureau Scholarships are now available.  Students must currently reside in Frontier County and their future plans must impact agricultural society.  Two scholarships are available: The Virgil Nelson Memorial Scholarship for $500.00 and The Frontier County Farm Bureau Scholarship for $250.00.  Applications are available with Mr. Watt and the deadline is March 1st, 2010. 

SENIORS a reminder that Doane College will be here on Wednesday October 28th at 11:30 A.M. and the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK) will be here Thursday October 29th at 2:30 P.M.

The KFC Colonel’s Scholars Program Scholarships are now available.  Please visit www.kfcscholars.org for an online application, qualifications, and for more information.  Deadline is February 10th, 2010. 

Graduation Seniors who are planning on participating in the U.S. Bank No Fee Education Loan Program for next fall can apply online at usbank.com/studentloans for the opportunity to register for forty $1000.00 scholarships awarded in a random drawing.  Program runs October through March. 

The American Legion has announced the availability of their 2010 Maynard Jensen Memorial Scholarships.  Must have some affiliation with the American Legion and plan on attending a Nebraska school.  Deadline is March 1st, 2010 and see Mr. Watt for an application.

The Nebraska Academy of Sciences sponsors a number of scholarships each year for seniors who are planning on attending a Nebraska school.  Please access their website: neacadsci.org/Info/Scholarship.htm.  Deadline is March 1st, 2010. 

The Norma Ross Walter Scholarship through the Willa Cather Foundation is now available to any senior girl, planning to attend a Nebraska college, and majoring in English (JOURNALISM IS NOT INCLUDED).  It is a $1000.00 scholarship and the deadline January 29th, 2010.  See Mr. Watt for an application.

The Nebraska Machinery Company (NMC) and Caterpillar are pleased to offer students interested in becoming Agricultural Diesel Technicians or Heavy Construction an opportunity for sponsorships to Central Community College in Hastings, Nebraska.  These sponsorships provide funds to cover tuition and book fees along with tools and a tool box (5.400.00 value).  Deadline is January 29th, 2010 and see Mr. Watt for an application.    

The Dr. Seuss's Oh, the Places You'll Go!!! 2010 Scholarships is available. Deadline is February 15, 2010.

The Colonel Delbert L. Townsend Scholarship Applications are now available. This scholarship is awarded to a student who will graduate to Southwest or McCook High School. Student must intend to go to the University of Nebraska Kearney, Lincoln, Omaha or the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis. See Mr. Watt for an application. Deadline is March 5th, 2010.
