TRACK PROJECT

The Southwest Track and Field Team would like to thank the community for its support of the track improvement project at Southwest Public Schools. Recently, the three lane track was successfully laid out and rubber surface applied. The full 400 meter track has a concrete base and a 1/2 inch of rubber surface applied and adhered to it. Both sets of runways at the school have also been poured with a rubber coating. The track, when lines are painted this fall, will have three lanes will full markings for the 100, 110, and 300 meter hurdles plus relay exchanges zones fully marked. Both runways will have markings for triple jump, long jump, and pole vault.

In addition, because of the path of the track, the press box at the football field has been completely replaced. The new structure is just to the north of the track and football field. Please stop by to walk the track and view the new press box.

The track team would like to thank:

The Southwest School Board for its dedication and funding of the projects.

Howard Kester for generating community support and pledges for the project.

Brooks Construction for the land preparation and leveling.

Southwest Public Schools Principal Matt Spinger, Custodial staff Jay Wyatt, Mike Gall, Dave Downey, and Gary Newcomb for all its construction work.
