Letter from the Superintendent - March 2018
With March arriving and warmer temperatures coming along with that (hopefully), our
thoughts turn to track season, more time outside for recess, educational opportunities dealing
with nature, agriculture, etc. It is still important that children dress appropriately for the cold
weather that will inevitably stick around, but spring is just around the corner.
It is very hard to believe that for our seniors, their time left with us is very limited. When you
subtract time for activities, college visits, and Easter break there isn’t that much time. I hate to
see this class move on, as I do with most classes of course, but the thought of having two of my
own moving off to college in a few months is surreal. It seems that we were dropping those kids
off in their respective kindergarten classes a short time ago. I appreciate the welcoming
attitude that my children received coming into their new school district. I hope that all of our
students feel that they are welcomed in and their classmates let them “be themselves,” as their
classmates did. This senior class is very diverse, with many interests and talents, and soon they
will be heading in many different directions. I have faith that they will all see success in the
future.
Basically we have one quarter of school remaining in the year, so let’s all encourage our
children to finish the year off strongly. We are in the midst of MAP testing, which is required by
the state. More testing will come. The results help us get a visual on how much students are
learning and what new strategies we can implement to boost our scores. Parents are a huge
part of the process, and although testing is certainly not the end-all to assessing how well a
school is doing, teaching children to do their very best at whatever it is that they are doing is
essential. A good work ethic is a valuable asset and will help our kids throughout their lives.
