Hello! My name is Carrie Smith, and I am proud to serve as the Elementary School Counselor. I am grateful to be part of a district that means so much to me. I was born and raised in Southwest Nebraska and began my own educational journey at Republican Valley Elementary. After spending many years away from the area, I found myself drawn back with the opportunity to serve this district, and it truly feels like life has come full-circle. I recently earned my Master of Arts in Education from Chadron State College with a major in Clinical Mental Health. I have been working in education for nearly 15 years and have a strong passion for working with students and supporting their overall growth and well-being. As the elementary school counselor, I work with students individually, in small groups, and through classroom lessons to help build skills such as emotional regulation, friendship, problem-solving, confidence, and resilience. I believe that when students feel safe, supported, and understood, they are better able to learn, grow, and succeed. I value strong relationships and enjoy collaborating with families, teachers, and staff to support students in meaningful ways. I strive to be a positive, approachable resource for our school community and welcome opportunities to partner with families. Outside of school, my husband, Randi, and I have four children and one grandchild. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family, camping, and creating books on Shutterfly.
