Letter from the Superintendent - December 2017

As December arrives and the temperatures dip (although slightly), we remind parents of our notification system for inclement weather. You may already be receiving e-mails, texts, or voice mails regarding changes in schedules, etc. We will utilize this same system for weather related issues, as well. In addition, any radio or television station or website that utilizes the Weatherthreat notification system will receive our notices. This is how our school closings are added to that scroll at the bottom of your television screen. When there is a major event, it may take a few minutes for the message to be posted because of internet traffic, but it will go up. As always, be safe, and we will assess the situation with the best tools available.

There are just a couple of weeks left in the semester, so I urge parents to remind their children that they need to stay on top of their work and get all of their assignments turned in. Once the semester is over, additional grades can’t be put in. Being timely is an important skill that all students should learn.

Please come out and support our music programs for the Junior/Senior High School on December 14 and our Elementary program on December 18. There will be plenty of excellent performances for all to hear. Basketball and wrestling seasons are upon us and community support is always appreciated. Please let the players play, the coaches coach, and the officials officiate. It will make the event a more positive one for our students, and helps make the viewing of an event much more pleasant for those in attendance. Go Roughriders!

Sincerely,

R. Todd Porter
