Letter from the Superintendent - January 2019

Welcome to 2019! The first semester is now behind us and we will venture into the second half of the school year with a promise of new beginnings, a fresh slate, and a chance for students to get on track or back on track for an academically successful semester. For those students who need to adjust their schedules they need to take care of that immediately when returning to school on January 8. This is especially important for Juniors and Seniors if they need to make up missing courses for graduation. Summer school will be available this year, as well, for credit recovery.

Over the break both schools have been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, although we want to encourage continuing to always wash hands and use proper etiquette when coughing and sneezing. As we all know, kids get sick, but we want to keep things at a minimum. Please remember, as well, that if your child is to take medication during the school day we do need documentation for the office. That medication will be locked up and can be distributed by a very limited amount of people. Bottles or packages must have your child’s name on them.

In the 7-12 building most hallways will be completely carpeted. This will cut down on the time and expense of stripping wax and re-waxing floors, and the carpet squares are easily replaceable if need be. The sound difference is quite noticeable, so it will make the hallways much quieter. There were some places where the tile was starting to show need of replacement, and this will make things much more serviceable. Of course the commons area and gym hallway will still be tile. We appreciate the good job that our kids do with taking care of school property!

We have added several loads of rock to the parking lot to try to cut down on the mud situation. It’s difficult to keep it in perfect shape, but this should help the situation. I know country roads have been difficult, as well. We hope that they get better soon!

Thanks for your continued support of our students!
