Welding Class Projects

The Southwest welding classes have been hard at work on several welding projects in the shop. Following time spent practicing their craft, students have been using their manufacturing skills on the following:

SMOKER

Starting with a large barrel donated to the shop by Austin Minard, students have been busy making this "cold" smoker for the FFA chapter. Students had to use the plasma cutter to make the door openings in the two barrels, attach hinges and catches to the doors, and then connect the two barrels with a pipe to transfer the smoke. The smaller barrel is for the hot coals and wood chips, and the larger barrel has racks located inside for placing meat or cheese to be smoked. The students then had to construct the frame that the smoker is located on and attach wheels. The FFA chapter is excited to try its first smoked cheese later this month! (

Saddle Rack- This project will be sold at the Horse Sale at the McCook Farm and Ranch Expo on November 20th at 6:00 PM. This heavy duty saddle rack is made from oil field pipe, angle iron, and horseshoes. Toby Honeymann, Mason Mousel, Staci Dack, Andrew Conway, Roger McGraw, Haley Teter, and Austin Miller constructed this project.

FEED BUNKS- NOT YET COMPLETED.

Toby Honeymann, Mason Mousel, Staci Dack, Andrew Conway, Roger McGraw, Haley Teter, and Austin Miller are working on these HEAVY DUTY feeding bunks behind the shop. Using oil field pipe, the class is constructing these 24 foot panels for Mr. Matt Springer. The class hopes to finish this project soon.
