Update:  The floor is done!!

The high school gym at Southwest has been a flurry of activity the past few weeks, and not in the usual athletic sort of way.  A major floor refinishing project began March 14 to fix water damage by the south doors and in front of the water fountain. 

Before the floor refinishing project could begin, a company had to come and move the bleachers to the middle of the gym floor so the under-bleacher floor area could be refinished.  Then, that company came and moved the bleachers back to their usual position, inspecting and repairing mechanical parts and replacing roller wheels on the bleachers at that time. 

Now, the crew is here to strip the main floor.  It has been sanded, and some of the staining is set to begin today.  The project is going very smoothly, and it is currently ahead of schedule.    

To prevent future water damage, some changed were made to the building.  The water fountain has been removed from the gym, and is now located in the hall.  Additionally, the south doors have been covered with awnings to prevent water from coming in.

With the refinishing comes a new floor design.  The lines and mascot will be repainted in a new way, and a whole new gym floor will be revealed soon.
